Matt and Lisa visited the weekend before last and we had a terrific time having new adventures in Seattle. We started by having lunch at E*PU*LO in Edmonds and it was delicious! The fire roasted tomato soup was full of richness and flavor. They also have interesting pizzas on the menu. I am looking forward to trying the fig and blue cheese pizza in the future.
We also took Rob to dinner at Icon Grill downtown, there they serve new versions of old comfort classics. I would have to say the highlights were the corn and cilantro mashed potatoes, and the hot fudge sundae.
Okay, so the hot fudge sundae comes out as just ice cream in a cookie bowl (like a waffle cone batter but without the waffley pattern), with a cookie cone stuck in the ice cream filled to the brim with hot fudge. The waitress came out with the sundae as well as a dish with four toppings (chocolate chip cookie pieces, whipped cream, candied almonds, and M&Ms). She puts the plate on your table and takes the cone and dumps it over on top of the ice cream so all of the hot fudge can ooze out. Then she sprinkles it with toppings to your liking and voila! Totally recommend this dessert.

Okay, we will cover this in the next post, just you wait!

We tried to go here with M&L, but they don't take reservations and it is a small establishment, but definitely noted for their inventive and delicious pizza creations. This pizzeria has been featured on the food network. I ate here with my friend Jenny and we shared a pizza with boar sausage, carmelized onions, and sardegna (which is a cheese from Sardinia, which I learned with the help of google).

Then last Saturday Rob took me to Blue C Sushi. I had been wanting to go for a very long time and now that we live here we were able to make it happen. It is so fun, because you pick you sushi off of a conveyor belt, and the color plate indicates how expensive each dish is. We had a bunch of delicious treats, but our favorite was...

...the Salmon Supreme!
Stay tuned for more adventures in food.

We love to experiment at new restaurants, wherever we are. I'm jealous that you get to do it in Seattle!
