I Dream of...

...Vintage, yet new refrigerators

Love this Big Chill frig, Rachel Ray has one of these. They come in all sorts of colors, even costum colors. They also have dishwasher panels and stoves that you can get as well.

Another option with the same feel is the Northstar Frig. They also have the matching stove, dishwasher panel, and even a microwave.

Ahhh, someday!

Port Angeles, and a Little Bit of Twilight Fever

I went with my dad on a business day trip to Port Angeles recently. PA is just a ferry ride and a drive away from where we live. The day was gorgeous! We saw some incredible views from a bluff overlooking the sound. Across you could see Canada.

PA is about 70 miles from Forks. We all know Forks because of the Twilight series. I myself was not a part of the original Twilight bandwagon. However, since seeing the movies my interest was somewhat peeked. I am currently meandering through the first book. However, it was fun to see all the Twilight stuff they had to look at in PA. They even have a pamphlet which maps out the sites to see in PA that are Twilight related.

I saw the New/Book store Bella went in.

And the restaurant Edward took Bella to. I guess you can always order mushroom ravioli there.

And there are a bunch of Twilight window displays, and even a store just dedicated to the movie.

It was kinda fun to get lost for a moment in the world of Twilight. Overall, it was a a fun day spent with my dad!

Trophy and The Clash of the Cupcake Titans

We have already discovered Cupcake Royale, but my friend Suzanne told me about Trophy Cupcakes and Party. I was in the neighborhood last week and thought I would stop by U village and check it out.

The store is so whimsical, with a large display case where the gorgeous sweet delights are right on display. Each cupcake is decorated uniquely and beautifully, and the flavors change daily. Along with cupcakes you can buy dainty, vintage toppers for your cakes that remind you of a time gone by. Entering the store is like crossing a portal to childhood. I saw mom's bringing their daughters in to choose their precious treat, and both pairs of eyes were wide at the thought of having one of these creations for their very own.

Now, these pieces of art do cost a sheckel or three, but they do have the power to brighten a day, which in and of itself is priceless. I decided to assemble a pastry box of four flavors to share when we got together with friends last weekend.

I chose:

Chocolate Macaroon,
Snickerdoodle,

Pineapple Upside Down,

And of course... Red Velvet (Rob's personal fav).

We all shared in the sweetness and were left feeling very satisfied that we may have experienced a little piece of heaven.

In conclusion, let's compare the Seattle cupcake titans shall we...
1) Cupcake Royale: Slightly more limited selection, slightly simpler decorated, slightly bigger portions, slightly moister cake.
2) Trophy: Slightly larger selection, slightly more ornately decorated, slightly more imaginative flavors, slightly creamier frosting.

These are just my reflections, but a cupcake that puts a smile on your face, regardless of where it is from, is worth going back for!

Mom's Birthday Cake

I made a chocolate cake with chocolate buttercrream for my mom's birthday. It was the first time I have made a chocolate cake from scratch. It turned out great!

Spring Has Sprung

Cherry Blossoms...

...One of my favorite things about spring!

And I think this cherry blossom headband by Lou and Lee is felt perfection! If I had a little girl it would be the perfect spring accessory!
