Things We Learned About Garage Sales...

(The majority of the content below was supplied by an anonymous lady who visited our Moving Sale in a beat up white station wagon, a visor, and a pair of enormous sun glasses!)

Rule #1: "Moving Sale" sounds just a little classier than "Garage" or "Yard Sale".

Rule #2: Peak hours to catch all the GS junkies are 7am-11am (not 9am to 2pm as we had orignally hypothesized).

Rule #3: Signage, signage, signage! East, west, north, south, post signs everywhere! Oh, and be sure to make enough posters with arrows pointing both ways. You may run into a corner with a telephone pole on only one side of the street, then what?

Rule #4: The recent list of GS "hot" items includes: Salt Lake Olympics parphernalia and bookshelves.

Rule #5: Don't leave your candles out on GS tables in 100 degree weather, they will melt!

Rule #6: Bright colored umbrellas may confuse passing bicyclist into thinking you are a lemonade stand.

Rule #7: Strategically position your GS tables in the shade so patrons will meander on your property longer admiring all your junk.

Rule #8: Be sure to call all of your neighbors and relatives so they can add their junk to your junk to increase your pile of purchasable junk.

Rule #9: Be sure to take advise from GS junkies when they say emphatically "Post THAT online, it WILL sell!"

Rule #10: No need to rinse out your moldy garbage cans, there are people out there who will buy those too. However, used plungers do not sell.

Rule #11: You can be sure to put a smile on any parent's face when you agree to throw in a spiderman football with their purchase of 5$.

Rule #12: Never attempt to predict which item a GS junky might enjoy, even men driving jeeps in white tank tops need a good bathroom scale.

Great tips! Next "moving sale" I have I am ready! We had one of those just before we came to Florida, it was pretty interesting!
